The Maldives is an island country in the Indian Ocean, lying across the equator, with 1,192 islands covering 871 sq km. It spans roughly 90,000 square kilometres, but only 298 square kilometres of land, and consists of 26 atolls. The islands feature colourful reefs, small white-sand islands, and clear waters. Of these, only 200 are inhabited; some host resorts, while others are used for industry and agriculture. Underwater, the Maldives hosts about 5% of the world’s reefs, vibrant with coral and home to around 1,000 fish species. Nutrient-rich currents draw large pelagic fishes such as manta rays and whale sharks.

The Maldives is a globally recognised luxury travel destination popular among HNW and UHNW individuals, including celebrities, royals, and many affluent people from various countries.
